As a non-profit hobbyist organization, one of MAKC’s missions is to provide education regarding the keeping of koi. Wet labs familiarize koi keepers with basic skills in parasite identification, basic koi anatomy, treatment skills and koi keeping techniques.

We are excited to have Ms. Vicki Burnley Vaughn, ably assisted by one of our club's Koi Health Advisors, Terri Janas, to lead our Wet Lab. Ms. Vaughan is the Co Director of the Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) Aquaculture Facility, UGA College of Veterinary Medicine and the research coordinator, Emerging Disease Research Group. She is also the manager KOILAB which offers fish diagnostic services. She is also President of MOLECULAR THERAPEUTICS, manufacturers of Tricide Neo/Neocide 3 and owner of KOI AFFILIATES, producers of koi and ornamental goldfish. And, she is also a self-described fish geek!
